IBC '12 FIELD TRIPS and ARTS WORKSHOPS
Please select FOUR practicums, prioritizing them from top choice (#1) down. Session can't be duplicated. Space is limited on some field trips and workshops, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We will try to fit you in to two of your three top choices, but to avoid disappointment, register early.

Field trips with an * may include a transportation fee.
(F-1) Shipwreck Shores
Take a trip back in time to 17th, 18th and 19th century shipwrecks in the Delaware Bay, first with a visit to Zwaanendael Museum and then to a nearby beach to comb for pottery shards and sea glass.

(F-2) Sea Glass Heaven*
One long generous stretch of public shoreline, once the site of a Victorian resort and ferry run, nowadays yields some of the best sea glass and pottery finds in the state of Delaware.
Minimum of 15 people Maximum of 20
(F-3) Pirate Booty*
Pirates roamed up and down the mid-Atlantic coast, pillaging vessels, burying treasure, and wrecking ships. This field trip begins at the DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum where you will learn about local shipwrecks and see shipwreck treasures such as gold ingots, Chinese export pottery, jewelry, emerald-studded ballast and more. Afterwards, try your luck at the beach to see if you can find your own bottle stopper or piece of eight.
Minimum of 15 people Maximum of 20
(F-4) Beachcomber's Delight
One of North America's most famous horseshoe crab breeding beaches, this shoreline also offers beachcombers a wide ranch of combing treasures including driftwood, shells, sea glass, stones, and occasionally, a native American spear tip.
Minimum of 15 people Maximum of 20
(F-5) Lantern Tour of Indian River Life-Saving Station (Saturday night)
Enjoy a unique, nighttime, guided lantern tour of the circa-1876 Indian River Life-Saving Station Museum by an interpreter in turn-of-the-century Life-Saving Service patrol garb. Learn about the causes of shipwrecks off the Delaware coast, of the hard work and peril the surfmen went through to save shipwreck victims and then venture out to the beach where the surfmen performed their nightly patrols more than 100 years ago, scanning the waters for signs of ships in distress.
