Field Trips and Workshops will take place between 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm on SUNDAY of the conference. Please review the opportunities below and register for the Field Trips and Workshops of your choice.
Field Trips
Registration for field trips and workshops will be handled by The Society for Ocean Sciences. When you click on the Add to Cart button, you will be directed to the PayPal website.Please note: all field trips are limited to 25 - 30 people. Registration for these field trips are accepted on a first-come first-served basis. To avoid dissapointment, please register early.
Miocene Fossils: Shark Teeth
Visit the longest coastal stretch of marine Miocene fossil beds in America and search for 7-20 million year old skate, shark and dolphin teeth. Price includes transportation.
Price: $35 -
Minimum of 10 people.
A Chesapeake Bay History:
Shells, Sea Glass and Stones
Travel back in time to Piscataway Indian summer camps, colonial farmers, Victorian revelers and the historic white and black communities of Bay Ridge and Highland Beach. Price includes a tour of Frederick Douglass's summer home.

Holly Beach and Sandy Point State Park:
Driftwood
One private beach, one public, both situated to take full advantage of the assortment of driftwood and other flotsam washed in with windy fall weather and westerly tides. Price includes transportation.

Workshops
Please note: all workshops are limited to 25 people and we need a minimum of 5 people to register. Registration for these workshops are accepted on a first-come first-served basis. To avoid dissapointment, please register early.Work with proffesional beach photographers to enhance your photographic prowess in catching the beauty of sea glass, shells, ceramics and other beach artifacts.

Beach Jewels
Skilled jewelry designers will assist you in creating beach earrings or pendants out of sea glass, fossils or a special beach treasure of your own. Price includes supplies to make one pendant and a pair of errings. You may purcahse more supplies if needed. Some sea glass and quartz will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
Price: $30
Have fun with what you find! Artisans will assist you in creating beautiful beach candle holders or decrotive topiary-style balls made from cushed oyster shell flowers, quartz and other beach finds. Price includes enough supplies to create two crafts of your choice. Additional supplies are available for purchase.
